Welcome! I'm Kari Motley, I help encourage women in their faith and hope in the Lord Jesus Christ. My book Promised: A Woman's Guide to Discovering Her True Identity & Purpose In Christ was inspired by the many women I've worked with and helped along their journey. I was a Biblical counselor for women for 12 years, and a hairstylist for 20. I grew up in Southern California, and spent 20 years of my adult life in Orange County, CA. I spent the majority of that 20 years thinking I needed to compete in a workforce, believing in women empowerment and independence. Not really knowing who God was or anything about His word. I believed in the law of attraction and manifesting your own destiny. I couldn't have been more lost in a highly feminist culture that claimed conservatism. The only thing in fact, that I was certain of, was that God blessed me with 4 beautiful children, one (my first born and only daughter) of whom I lost from a chromosome disorder called Trisomy 18. I raised 3 sons who love The Lord only by His grace and merciful love.
I was a single mom for many years, also known as "Super Mom". I loved but also hated this title because as I came to know Christ more, I knew this wasn't where He wanted me. My heart began to yearn for a Godly husband, to lead me and my children. I knew God wanted me to be provided for and under the headship of a man of God. Yet every time I thought about this idea, I felt guilty and selfish, as if that wasn't enough or too burdensome for me to bring to the table. Society had pressured me into believing that I had too much "baggage" or that I would have to help contribute financially. Everywhere I turned, even in my church, I was being told women should be ministering to no restful end, they should be volunteering in everything, while having at least a part time job and being room mom at school. If you weren't doing all of this, you were looked down upon. You were EXPECTED to be Super Mom and if you were a single mom, you would be all the more praised for it!
It took me about 10 years to rip myself away from the ideologies and false theologies of the church I attended at the time and the culture I was living in.
Now I am happily married to a loving man of God that has so much joy in providing for me as a wife, his partner and helpmeet. I find so much joy in being a homemaker and helping, and serving my husband in every way I can. I have never felt more accomplished in my entire life than I do in the role God has designed for me.
